We’re thrilled to announce that this year’s featured speaker is Amy Hempel. Amy is the author of Reason to Live, At the Gates of the Animal Kingdom, and Tumble Home, and is the coeditor of the anthology, Unleashed: Poems by Writer’s Dogs. Amy’s stories have appeared in Vanity Fair, Harper’s, The Quarterly, The Yale Review and several anthologies, including The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction. Her literary awards include the Hobson Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship. She has served as a judge for the National Book Award, The PEN/Revson Award, The PEN/ Hemingway Award, and the Mary McCarthy Prize. |

Join us on April 11, 2009 in Washington, DC for the third annual Conversations and Connections Writer’s Conference.
Conversations and Connections will help you get the connections and information you need to take your writing — and publishing — to the next level. The conference will take place in downtown DC on April 11, 2009.
This year’s conference will expand the range of options available in our breakout sessions, with panel discussions and craft lectures on issues that matter to writers, like fighting writer’s block, grants for writers, online publishing, knowing when to take or leave advice and feedback on your writing, and other issues. Our panels topics like novel POV, agents, and sentence power, as well as more cutting edge fare such as flash fiction and writing sex scenes.
